20.6 miles on the Roubaix. Friend and I decided to ride the Veterans Parkway bridge again (not open to traffic yet). The bridge is concrete but where the blacktop starts a water truck had just passed (keeps the dust down during construction). Ooops. Thin road mud all over me and the bike, and I just cleaned it. Shoes used to be white. Ready the sponge.

Crushed a PR on a major hillclimb today. I'm 31 out of 234 riders (all time) and 10th on the season. Stuffed that time so far up there that it will take some work to catch it next year.

I wish I had trained intervals earlier.

Yesterday after work, 26.2 mi. @ 19.1, several stops at road crossings slowed my average. I had one 5.5 mi. segment that was 23.0 mph avg., I would like to be able to keep that up for an extended period.

22.4 miles Zone 5 intervals. Managed to hold 22.5 on a couple of intervals maxed out at 25.4 mph. Cooler temps are coming 66 deg today. Makes me want to work.

19.4 miles on the Roubaix. Went North in a loop vs the usual East. There's a bike path beside Sparks Blvd. (no bike lane on the street) from Lincoln Way to Prater Way (approx ¼ mile) that used to be impassible. Half the goathead sticker bushes in Nevada were in that section. But a cleaning crew cleared all the bushes. Added 4 miles to the route and I don't have to deal with that interminable traffic light at Prater.

Record breaking high temps this past week so the mornings are cool but doable with shorts and a simple long sleeve bike shirt. But I take full fingered gloves 'cause, you know, I'm a cold-weather wimp.

Getting ready for the Coast 2 Coast ride next month. Really nice 52 mile ride this morning with my buddy Lou, who is also going on the ride. More 50+ mile rides to follow.

...just a real quick 7.25 mile ride to the public park and back, since I had the afternoon off. I was testing out air pressures in the Kenda K35 27" x 1 1/4 tires that I put on about three weeks ago. Instead of always running 80 psi in the front and rear, I left the front at 80 and pumped the rear up to the max 90 psi. It didn't blow off the rim or have any issues. I honestly didn't feel any difference, other than a very slight increase in overall speed.

7.25 miles in 25:50 for an average of 16.8 mph. (probably where the .8 came from, with the rear at 90psi instead of 80psi).

I finally got a chance to get away for a ride on bike I'm thinking of buying - 25.6 miles 16.8 mph first leg, return leg 8.9 mph. Darn coastal winds were strong this morning.
Lot of fun & grinning when I got back. Nice way to celebrate vacation.

35.1 miles @ 17.2 with 1017 feet of climbing. Rode with my bud Pete. He's always good for a healthy dose of pain. Makes for a good ride
Got home and put a new saddle on the bike - Selle Smp Glider Carbon Rail. I've been having some issues which taint no joke so I think the larger channel will eliminate the pressure. Maiden ride tomorrow.

Easy 5-7 around town on the Colnago. Tomorrow is ride day, probably a fast 16 in between shifts/assignments. Here is my view this evening:

Get your mind out of the gutter, Ryp, a preacher isn't supposed to take that course of thought

Riding:
Tuesday was my day off for the week, late home from work due to bidding a job, no we weren't successful.
Wednesday, first day of fall was a nice 25.35 mile ride in fantastic weather. After that little taste of fall last week the heat and humidity were creeping back in, thankfully the pattern calls for milder temps for a few days.

Haven't done a complete ride with the wife since June so today I decided to ride with her on her typical route. Rode 20, slow but very enjoyable miles with her. Tomorrow is a scheduled metric century; if it doesn't rain.

22.2 miles. First ride on the new saddle. Not a long trial but I did do Zone 4 Threshold intervals so there was some intensity. Jury's still out but so far so good absolutely no pressure in the problem area and it felt like the downward angle of the nose put me in a better position to get more power to the pedals
BTW spectacular weather today some wind but I'm not complaining.

Twelve miles Wednesday to a particular spot I'd set as a one-month goal after starting back riding three weeks ago. Had to stop a couple of times to catch my breath and stretch out the thigh cramps. But I granny-geared up a hill for the first time that I'd had to walk up two or three times before.

Another 22 mile ride to work and back today. Again with the wonderful weather - a little bit cool in the AM and a little bit hot in the PM. But dry and sunny.
