Why are they banning that label?

Lack of helmet? My guess is that Alabama does not have a mandatory helmet law. Perhaps there is an old law against trick riding.

My former employer was headquartered in Auburn, AL. It was always a treat to drive through the Bible belt. The landscape is totally cluttered with Jesus billboards, generally in close proximity to "Gentlemen's Clubs" billboards. "Nude" nymphs banned? Hypocrisy taken to Olympian heights!

Cheers,
Geary

"Gladiator" is the punchline to an off-color joke. I think that's why it got banned.

Kind of like environmentalists flying around the world in gas-guzzling jets?

You're actually assuming that the very same people who put up the Jesus billbords are the ones putting up the Gentlemen's billboards. Isn't that a bit of a stretch on your part? Do you know the individuals involved? Or are you playing on very worn-out stereotypes? You would typecast, say, a Muslim like that, would you?

Hats off to Alabama. I'm guessing they banned it because the wine is lousy. I bought some of the Pinot and Merlot last week. Not good.

Alabama, a state noted for its poorly educated citizens, poverty, obesity and racism, is also smack in the middle of the "Bible Belt". As such, the alcohol control board there is controlled by Christian Taliban (similar to the "morality police" prevalent in parts of the Muslim world).

The label in question is from a French bicycle advertising poster from the 1890's, and original lithographs sell for around $50,000.

The ACB's absurd decision demonstrates yet again that Alabama is at least 100 years behind the times.

No, it is probably very true. There are very few purveyors of billboards, they rent them to whoever coughs uip the $$$. The signage is generally applied by contractors. Are you stretching a bit here to create an argument?

Not really possible. It is highly unlikely that the billboards are owned individuals. Most likely corporations, they are legal entities. A little hard to get to know.

A sadly weak straw man. What do the billboards have to do with Muslims? Or perhaps you meant muslin, the fabric of which large, inexpensive signs were made?

Of course , as in all such matters, YMMV.

I read that it's banned because of nudity, but I don't know if that means the woman or the bike...no fenders, no chain guard, not even a luggage rack or basket; just a naked bike.
