Ive been debateing getting new one for along time (1.5 years actually) Never said anything on here, cause i know you guys would have all forced me to do it sooner
While it may not be what most of you ride, its new. Surly LHT. My first drop bar bike in a 100 years it seems. I love that old school English/French touring look with Carradice saddle bags,so ordered them too.
Pics will come when i get it later in the month. I got a 09 (truckacino color, cant spell) cause i dont care for the new blue or black offering,plus good price. Not many people ride 60",im only 6ft but 35" inseam. So i can set it up comfortably re: Grant of Rivendel fame with only a fistfull of saddle post showing and high bar,slightly above seat.
How am i supposed to sleep till i get it home?

Congrats! IF I ever get the funds for a "pure touring" bike it would be the LHT, forsure, although the "recumbant" bug keeps lurking in the back of my brain!

Ill be using it for light touring probably credit card style. Handle bar bag and Carradice saddle bag should do it. i will do some camping although im finding the sleeping on ground not so good as i get older. But i am used to traveling lite as i do some backpacking too. It rides so nice it might get used for everyday riding as well including some single track stuff,nothing to rough. Im a trucker and carry my Brompton folder in truck with me,so LHT will get left at home some.

The LHT is a nice bike and a very popular one. A few regulars here have them, so you aren't alone in that respect. Looking forward to seing pictures and later on, reading your tour reports. Congrats on the new bike. Enjoy.

Welcome to the fold. I have an LHT that I built up from a frame. It's a great touring bike. I loaded it up and rode across Washington, Idaho, and ended in Glacier National Park. It was a wonderful tour and the LHT handled like a dream with no mechanical problems. I rode it on one century when it was my only road bike. It's a bit heavy for that, but I was comfortable and I got lots of positive remarks from other cyclists, like, "Nice bike", and "I'm thinking about getting one of those," and "I just ordered one." I rode the century after coming home from a tour. For fun I left on the racks and fenders.
I'm going to take it on another tour this summer - self-supported and fully loaded. I can't wait!

Congrats. The LHT has a well deserved reputation. I don't own one, but I dealt in Surlys before I closed my shop. Great frames.

I rode it home yesterday,only -5C so nice ride. Pic as promised. Got my old Brooks on it with some platform pedals and bottle cages. Still waiting on Carradice bags to get here from UK. Not sure what kinda fenders to use yet,probably some Honjo's with better coverage than most.
Thanks for all the reply's,dont feel outa place knowing lots of you have tour bikes on here. 50+ still most peacefull and for me,best place to hang on these forums.

Ive not seen hammered in real life so not really sure. But i dont like the smooth. Actually Velo Orange has some with a kinda different style with sort of a ridge in the middle,but not quite as much coverage as Honjos but close. Im leaning towards hammered but i feel there little fancy for a tour bike. But im only doing mostly fairly lite week long tours,day trips, weekend camping and such. If i was going around world id pick less striking fenders for sure.
Guess thats why i havnt ordered yet. Im open to suggestions from all.

I really like my hammered Honjos, but VO came out with these just a week after I got the Honjos and I think I would have gone for the $39 savings.

The Honjo LaPaons are pretty high on my list.But 88 bucks US yikes!!!! Nice to have the choices i guess,but would be so much better if a guy could see them all in person.

I wouldn't exactly call them "plug and play". The hardest part was getting the front fender to fit under the brake caliper. I had to do a little hammering of my own. That shouldn't be an issue with cantis.
