Photos from Arches and Canyonlands
I did some road riding around Moab last week. It was very nice if you got out early but warmed up close to 100 degrees by noon..........but it was dry heat!!!
A short bike trail along the river near Moab http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...ngs2009002.jpg A bike bridge across the river near the trail http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...ngs2009003.jpg A view from a flat 15 miles stretch on Potash Rd that runs along the river from Moab to Potash http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...ngs2009004.jpg A view in Canyonlands-I thought Canyonlands was prettier than the Grand Canyon http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...ngs2009010.jpg One of the arches on the ground in Arches http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...ngs2009017.jpg The Double Arch http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...ngs2009021.jpg This is a terrific area to see some of Mother Nature's natural wonders and get in a few miles of riding. You have choices of flats or hills as well-in fact there is a nice little climb the first few miles into Arches-and several more once you get into the park. Traffic was not very heavy while I was there but I could see it getting pretty busy in the spring and fall. |

Beautiful. Thanks jppe!

I agree about Canyonlands - thank you for reminding me just how nice it is.

Fantastic pictures:) I should have taken a few more days and visited it.
|
When I first looked, I thought it was the Grand Canyon. Very pretty.
|
It's a beautiful place. Thanks for the nice pics.

I think I would have trouble riding, I'd always be taking pictures. Ho hum, another great view.
|
Beautiful pics, Joe. Jim and I hiked around some of the Arches sections one evening and hiked through the Park Avenue section the next morning before we left Moab for Glenwood Springs. We thought Arches was prettier, or at least more amazing, than the Grand Canyon.

Unless you want to keep a secret, send those pix to your local tourism people!

They have the Moab Skinny Tire Festival every March, it's a great way to start your riding season, and the weather can be just great then. I've been coming to STF for a few years, it's a great way to get a break from the Oregon rain for a week or so. This year the temps were in the 70's with sunny skies.

Awesome pictures! I'm embarrassed to admit that I lived in Salt Lake City for a few years and never made it to any of the National Parks. I hope to rectify that mistake someday.
