Top this!!!

During a ride last month I found it necessary to call the wife and have her meet me. "Bring the truck" I instructed her. I had come across a 'roadside treasure' that I just had to have.

Back in Spring of 2007, we redecorated our Kitchen. We added a small base cabinet, a wall cabinet, moved the stove and refridgerator to better locations within the room and changed the wall color. We painted the old cabinets and added a hardwood floor. We chose to keep our old countertop, we liked the color. I put a small piece of plywood over the new base cabinet and the wife was happy.

Well, look at what I found and what we did with it. First pic is our kitchen yesterday...second pic is the roadside find.......last pic is today.

Ain't life just grand?

Nice work, Cranky. You would never know the cabinet wasn't part of the original kitchen

Nice catch Cranky. see if you'd been riding a car you'd have missed it. one more reason to ride bikes. you get to take in the scenery at a more mundane pace and capture the good stuff.

It's the new "recycled" countertop at left of range... takes a veteran kitchen remodeler to see these things. He found exact match to the countertops he already liked and kept. Top this? Well, I did find two nice crisp $100 bills this summer... but alas, no way to locate their rightful owner.

Thanks

Couldn't you tell who the owner was by the picture on the bills?

I misplaced a couple of hundred dollar bills in 'NE' this summer. Read me the serial numbers and I'll tell you if they are my bills.

At first I thought this was one of those picture puzzles that are identical except for a very small change in the second one and you have to find it.

That's a great find! Very clever use of recycled material. What did you do with the rest of it?

This is our bedroom and we have been planning this project since we move in 13 years ago. Well after gutting and rebuilding 2 bathrooms and the kitchen plus semi major renovation to two other bedrooms and building the man cave in the basement this room finally got on the rotation. It gonna come in about $800.00 over budget as near as I figure which is because the insulation and drywall contractors were higher then I figured they would be. Its worth it because I can't imagine carrying the drywall up the stairs with four 90 degree turns. Insulation next week I hope then the following week the drywall goes up. Its taken most of my spare time this summer which has kept me from riding as much as I would have liked. Good thing I bike to work to get my riding fix. Gonna take the wife on a evening ride tomorrow and have dinner out at our favorite little greasy spoon restaurant in Orting Wa.
