Don't mince words
Thanks, all!
I rode my age +9 today; first ride on the Diva in 3 weeks. I've spent so much time on the tandem lately I was afraid I'd forget how to shift and steer.
We've had some gorgeous cycling weather recently and today didn't disappoint. At first I rode early this morning to a Board of Directors meeting, where they had a 5-layer chocolate thunder cake for me (all chocolate, with chocolate shavings to boot). They were fascinated with what I wore, and with how much cake I ate. I told them it takes a lot of chocolate to ride 29 miles.
Then I proceeded to do our local Lake Loop, which is the hilly part of Foxy's Fall Century with 15 flat miles at the end. I took notes from DFox and made sure to take pictures:
This is a tiny brook trickling over bright-green moss covered rocks. I saw it Saturday and couldn't stop to take a picture, but today was different; today was looking for the beauty and serendipity.
I rode through a lot of this, and it was lovely:
I've never done this ride solo, and completing it in 4 hours total ride time was a plus. I wasn't trying to go fast, just be consistent, and enjoy the ride. That I did.
Any day that starts with chocolate and finishes with the man of my dreams is a great day.
