PAC Tour AZ Train. camps...Anyone ever gone?
I'm looking to participate in one of the winter camps in the PAC Tour series down in Tuscon in 2010.

Generally, I'm considering the Chiricahua Challenge Tour, the Century Week, or the Mountain Tour. Any 50+'er have any experience with any of these camps? Any feedback is appreciated!

No personal experience, but I've heard good things about PAC Tours in general and their camps in particular from several rides who have attended.
I'm sure you'll have a good time and learn a thing or two!

The actual town where it's normally held is Sierra Vista, AZ south of Tucson.
Lon Haldeman is extremely good/knowledgeable. The terrain in the area can be challenging if you are not used to hills and up to 1 mile altitude.

I did the Mountain Week in 2008. The PacTour folks know how to put a tour together. They paid attention to every detail. The miles were long (which was the reason I went), lots of good climbs, great scenery, good accomodations, on road services were sufficient. The cyclists on this trip are very strong. I was one of the weakest riders, literally getting in to the hotel at least an hour after everyone. Lon and Susan were extremely patient with me. I would highly recommend this week.

I'm signed up for the ist week, the Cactus Classic tour, 85+ miles per day. I'm still trying to figure out how to maintain my fitness level through our WI winter to be able to ride this far each day in Feb. I ride a 1-UP USA trainer and hope this and a relaxed touring pace will make the tour enjoyable. I am 61 and don't know how many more chances I will have to do this kind of tour. So, sign up and we can be the two old farts bringing up the rear.
