Old Snails Climbing Hills
Wife and I (in our 60's) tackled a 50+ mile hilly ride Saturday on our tandem. One of the climbs was 2 miles+ with grade varying from 6% to 14+%. I'm extremely proud of my wife and the effort she put out on that hill; I was able to keep my HR under 150 for all but the short really steep stint. My wife really wants to do some of the longer climbs, similar to yesterday's, but much longer; I now believe that we can get there by working hard over the winter. For those of you just taking up cycling in your 60's as we've done: you're never too old to improve.

You must have some very fast snails in your area.
Congratulations on the ride and your choice of partners.

Hill climbing is adictive. It hurts, you have to prepare for it but the feeling you get at the accomplishment is great.

Nicely done, especially for being relatively new to cycling. Should I consider my upcoming BD #60 as just another opportunity for improvement?
