Rode my age, does it count?

I turn 51 in three weeks.
Today I took advantage of the perfect weather, and a wrong turn (by my friend) and rode 51.2 miles.
Does 3 weeks early count?

As long as you double it up on "the big day."

Incidentally, a few years back, I went on a mile-for-year birthday ride with a fellow cyclist -- he was turning 82.

Did my birthday ride a couple weeks ago on a Sunday when my B-day was later in the week. You ride gets my vote!

I don't count mine until on or after the birthday. You get to make your own rules.

I haven't consulted the Big Book of Very Important Rules for a while

But wasn't there something, I seem to recollect, about premature birthday rides having to be validated by the correct distance on the actual birthday with a sled full of weight equivalent bricks?

I'm sure I didn't invent that

Getting lost (even though you blamed your friend) is a sure sign of old-aging, so just tell everyone that you have already turned 51 and then, of course, the ride counts.......seriously, congrats on the birthday ride. Ever notice how every year that ride seems to get longer???

If riding early counts, I'll just go ahead and start knocking out all my birthday rides up to 100 or so now. Should be a lot easier than waiting until I'm actually that old.

Since 3/52 = 0.0577 and you rode 51.2 then by the law of hyperbole they exaggerated distance entitles you to claim the ride.

I see no mention of pie. Therefore, disqualified.

However, there is a 72-hour grace period -- if you have a significant amount of pie before the 72 hours have elapsed, then it can still count.

The sled is only in the winter with snow on the ground- No snow and it is a slice of PIE before you start- at least one on the ride and a slice of Birthday cake with all the candles lit once home. Don't get many pics of the bithday cake since DG had to move house due to fire damage on his last birthday ride.

OK, I made officially count today.
I turned 51 yesterday and rode 53.2 miles today.

I ride with a group that starts about 11 miles from me. I usually ride 5 miles to meet them and then peel off for home towards the end. Today I rode the 11 miles to the start, rode 31 miles with the gang, I joined them for a post ride iced tea at a local joint, and then rode the 11 miles home. Felt good.

The weather was fabulous for cycling in NJ today.
