I rode today and was relaxed
 

Unfortunately I had to ride this morning because I'm babysitting my granddaughter in about an hour. It was still nippy. I would have liked it to be warmer.

I came up to another roadie at a stop light. I said hi. He noticed that I had a nice bike and was kitted out reasonably stylishly.

When the light turned green he got out of his saddle and sprinted.

I didn't care. I doubt I could have caught him anyway but I didn't even try. I was too relaxed.

I might have snapped some pictures but there wasn't anything very interesting I came across. This time of year the daffodils and a few crocuses are in bloom but that's about it.

My Ascent said I averaged 97 watts and had a 5 minute peak of 260. I doubt the latter, because I didn't exert much effort. I didn't really care to.

I avoided hills like the administration avoids CBO estimates. I didn't miss them at all.

I got home and drank an Ale 8-1. Don't knock it 'til you try it.

Now go spend some quality time with the little princess and remember to spoil her rotten and give her a cola and chocolate bar snack just before mum and dad pick her up,it's called revenge. Excellent ride description by the way.

No way. She's spending the night tonight.

Breakfast in the a.m. then should be Belgium waffles with whipping cream and strawberries, a meal suitable for a queen let alone a princess.

There's an IHOP going in a mile from here. I intend to be one of it's first customers when it opens.

I left out some pretty important details:
-every dog on the route was either on a short leash or behind a fence.
-no driver gave me less than 3 feet of clearance.
-I stopped at all the stop signs. Kind of.
-two drivers actually waved me through 4 way stop signs.

If it weren't for the fact that I tweaked my right hamstring a bit (don't ask me how, I certainly wasn't riding hard) it would have been perfect. If it were about 15 degrees warmer at the time.

I feel your pain brother.
My ride was pretty perfect as well, except for the fact that I tweaked my knee just as I was getting ready to mount the bike, my cleat slipped on my driveway and my foot slid out - luckily the bike rolled out in the grass. It was maybe 33 degrees here but sunny and no wind.

I got out of work at 05:15 a.m. I hopped on my trusty old Trek and headed north, homeward. It was 21*F and I rode a quick pace for eight miles before aiming for my neighborhood. I would have rode slowly but I felt really good riding along at 15 to 18 mph just listening to my studded snow tires singing out on the dry pavement.

When I arrived at home I had racked up a comfy 10 miles. The only ice I encountered was on my chin whickers! :eek:

I poured myself a bowl of Wheaties and watched the sun rise from my dining room.

This afternoon I pulled our Van out of it's winter hidey-hole (my garage). Now the garage is my bike haven once again and I quickly set about doing 'Bike stuff'. I took the winter wheelset with the studded snows off the Trek and put on the summer rollers. I rode the Volae to work tonight and will probably be back on the Trek tomorrow night as they're forcasting rain. (The Trek is my 'Foul weather' bike.)

Ahhh. Now life is good again and things are finally as they should be. :)

I'm so relaxed I'm going to fall asleep. This thread won't last 24 hours.

Although not a grand parent - my oldest is of an age where this could happen, she is not at a point where it is in the cards. However I am blessed with a surprise daughter. A few years older than this young'n but oh so much fun. Little ones are just so cool. I can't tell you how cool it was the day my daughter called me at 4:45 PM at work and said "come home, I want to go riding with you"

It's always nice when everyone is having fun. Good luck on relaxing.

I rode 30 miles today and nothing happend. I thought about things. HR was too high to describe it as "relaxing".
