A funny thing happened on the commute to work - a psuedo N+1 story
The good news is I cycle commuted to work on Thursday. I had to use the Bionx assist kit on my cross bike. It was a pleasant ride and I passed two other commuters - a young woman who seemed to be toughing it out and an older guy like me who was in full kit on an older Specialized. I started talking with Lee and found he had a Marin Portofino steel frame road bike to sell. She has a full Ultegra triple group and Shimano 540 wheels [but 8 cog cassette]. With the Look pedals she weighs in at 23 lbs even.
She's a fine bike in my size but my stable is overflowing and the bike fund is lean. I'll move her Ultegra to the Kestrel I'm building and rebuild her the new Sora calipers, Tektra leves, DA bar end shifters. She'll actually be configured more like my normal setup. I'll replenish the bike fund slightly and I'm sure her new master will let her out to ride more than I would.
