I can't imagine shaving my legs, but have to admit that I can see the benefit if someone is crashing or falling a lot, and therefore has frequent road rash to deal with.

Actually, back when I played football in HS (almost 40 years ago), we had our ankles taped weekly for games, and also used adhesive tape to hold our game socks up. From multiple years of having tape ripped off once a week (during football season, anyway) I have no leg hair until you get more than 5 or 6 inches above my ankles, and then a stripe of no hair on the upper calves (from the sock tape).
