Did my birthday ride early, just in case.....

....all heck breaks loose around here in three and a half weeks! Yep, three and a half weeks from now I'll turn 59 years young, on the 19th of June.

Two of the girls will be home that week. That coupled with the fact that the bride's health is less than stellar, I may be a tad too busy to do the ride then.

The 70 mile ride I did today I submit as my official 59th birthday ride. I didn't have pie but I did stop around the 55th mile for a frozen custard, Yum!

The weather was stupendous and the traffic was between light an non-existant. Here's a pic of my view most of the way westward to Hamlin Beach State Park. As you can see, I couldn't have asked for a nicer day.

Here's a shot of the entrance to the park.

There were a lot of folks there, but it was far from crowded as you can see....

The ride back felt almost supersonic. I had gentle breezes at my back, almost no traffic, and I am beginning to get a feel for riding with the dimension toe clips. When I was conscious of actually spinning I couldn't help but notice that I was flying down the road!

I wasn't going so fast that I missed the roadside treasures though. Check these little babies out...

Yes, that is my foot in the picture. I saw what looked like a Beaver Dam but as luck would have it there was a touch of traffic and the highway narrows a bit....I'll go back again and check it out.

Good job Lenny!
My birthday is just a little more than a week behind yours - although you have 5 years on me.
I will be doing a number of rides > 54 in the coming weeks so I guess I can claim one of them as well. I hope I get to do my favorite 85 mile ride this weekend, I try to do it 3 or 4 times a year. I'll post the pics if I get the ride in. I really need those miles as my first Century of the year is on the 6th.

Nice ride and nice pictures. As for it being your 59th birthday ride, though, you're too young to do that ride just yet.

Well, happy [early] birthday Cranky. You always have some really nice places to ride and pics to prove it.
