On holiday at home for a couple of weeks and plenty of home "Maintenance" things being done.One of which is tidying up the bike shed. It was getting into a bit of a tip and bike maintenance was getting awkward as the first thing to do was find the tools to be able to start maintaining the bikes. So it was time for a bit of Spring Cleaning.

Everything out and sweep. Never realised how many cable ties I had. Never seem to have any so I always have to go out and buy some. Took a couple of hours just to empty the shed and just as I had covered the lawn with bikes and tool boxes and rubbish (Never throw away what everyone else thinks of as rubbish as it may be usefull)--My G.D came round to show me her new shoes. Just a pity they are white as she is like me with regards to keeping things clean.

But a few hours after and the shed was tidy- bikes put away and a big pile for the tip. I could even see the wood on the workbench so it must have been a thorough sort out.

But one of the objects of tidying the shed was to find tools that had been misplaced. One of those tools was my pedal spanner. Not a tool many would go out and buy as any 15mm spanner will fit. Problem is I also have Ross- My son-in-law- who maintains his bike here. We had to change the pedals when we changed his crank and couldn't find the Pedal spanner- couldn't fing a 15mm either and he started to use my very expensive Cone spanners- He still has the wrong pedals on his bike- after a lot osf shouting and swearing at him.

Well I found the pedal spanner- and 4 chain breakers and the Chain cleaning tool and a lot of other things I had forgotten I still had. Look at the pic and you can see why the pedal spanner is so special. IT IS LONG. Pedals go on easy enough with just enough force to keep them on- but they don't come off easily after a couple of years riding and corrosion. That is why a $15 spanner is well worth it.

So One job jobbed and only the greenhouse to tidy, the windows to paint and the water fall on the pond to sort and---

I am going to need to go back to work for a rest to get get over this holiday.

The granddaughter is a real cutie

My garage is in need of a cleaning as I can barely get through it at the moment. It's cluttered with bikes, garden equipment and storage boxes of our club's jerseys, shorts and t-shirts. In the summer things seem to migrate from the outside storage shed into the garage

I've found that when one of my tools is missing it's usually because one of my kids has borrowed it and forgot to return it

The purple one in the interior shed pic- on top of the resy on the left. And front wheel off as we found out that the pushchair won't take 60psi in the Tubes- and luckily they are the same size.

And she is not going clipless yet. She has enough falls as it is. Don't think she has the co-ordinarion to attempt Club Tombay yet and Mum hates the sight of blood.
