The view from my saddle...06/15

I rode over to the LBS this morning on the Tour Easy and was fortunate to have enough time to swing by the Lake and Ponds on my way home.

This poor girl built her nest very close to the road and it is unfortunately within easy reach of any mammals that may be interested. I've yet to catch her off the nest so I don't even know if there were ever any eggs. All of the other swans in the area have had their cignets out on the water several times already. I'm keeping my eyes open and I check this nest out every time I ride by.

Here she is sitting dutyfully on her nest...

....and of course her life long mate is never far away....

Yesterday I was very, very lucky as I rode the River Trail. I was treated to a sight I've never witnessed before...a Doe nursing her Fawn! They were in the underbrush in the woods about 30 yards away. Being an overcast low-light day I was unable to get a clear picture in zoom mode, sorry.
