That was close!!!!

Almost another N+1 picture and story!

I'm kinda-sorta looking for an upright 3spd., vintage British would be nice. I'm also keeping an eye out for a coaster brake Cruiser, an older model...50's ish.

Craigslist had a Green Electra Swing, 3 spd. listed in the immediate area. Did I forget to mention I love dark green? Ooooo, oooooo, everything I want all rolled into one big green Cruiser. It's got the tan & black fat Electra saddle, I can add tan leather grips and streamers and custom valve caps and a tan leather roll for my tools and retro style mirrors and the wife even stopped wailing in protest!

But alas, the seller is adament about not reducing his price and the bike is a tad bit more worn than I would like.

Phew! That was a close one!! :innocent:

You did not try hard enough, did you take out the cash in 5s,10s and 20s and wave it under his nose? Ruffle it a bit and say that's my offer, cold hard cash now or maybe in this economy you are asking to much, Good Day Sir.

It's not over till it's over. He may relent if there are no other takers.

Look again in a weeks time and see if it is still there- Then go in with an offer lower than your current one.

If he hasn't sold it in a week- he might consider dropping the price a bit- but you go in with a low offer and let him bid you up a bit.

Just face it- you know bikes and if this is priced too high- then other viewers of the bike will think so too- Unless they just want a bike- and if that's the case- this one might be too high for them.

Actually the finish was horrible, the Nexxus 3 spd hub sounded like a sputtering chain saw, and the bike fit left much to be desired. My jets have cooled and I'm thinking somewhat more clearly now.

There's an old Columbia GoldCrest 10 spd. out in the garage all lonely and ignored. I think maybe I'll pick up some dark green rattle-cans and sort through my spare parts a bit.

I think I sense a 10 spd. Rat Rod in my future. :innocent:
