OT -- new arrival in the extended family

I am a great uncle for the first time. (My brother is a grandpa for the first time, and my father is now a great-grandpa -- that sort of keeps it all in the family.) I might not even bore all of you with this, except that Estella Rose is the first girl born into our family in 4 generations -- my father is one of two boys, I am one of two boys, I have two sons, and my brother has three sons. I am sure the new arrival won't get spoiled rotten -- yeah, right.

Bikes: Have borrowed a Schwinn MTB and a Releigh roadie to try and see which one I like before I purchase one of my own. Just purchased a 2010 Specialized Tri-Cross Sport.

Congrats. Your family sounds a lot like mine in regard to Y chromosomes. My brother and I were the only kids in our family. He now has 2 sons and no daughters. My father was one of 4 boys and no girls. One of his brothers had 2 sons and 2 daughters, but of them they produced 7 boys and one girl. My wife thinks my family is abnormal.

Must be the time of the year!!!!!

Weak link expecting a grandchild shortly and so am I .

AND make certain the bike is the right colour. Boys- Or rather their dads- don't like Pink. This will be my second GC and it is going to cost me a new bike.

I knew I should have got the Star Wars version for Ferne but her mum wouldn't let me.

I was the first grand-daughter after a long string of grandsons, so I can tell you, she won't be spoiled at all, she'll just get everything she rightly deserves.
