New Bike: My Craigslist find!

A friend found this on Craigslist last week. The owner even held it for me all day and turned down many offers of more money from countless callers! As best I can tell, it's a '91 Bianchi Alfana, lugged steel frame, all 105, with RSX brifters added.

Yeah, i know, it's a Japanese Bianchi, but it rides like a million bucks folks! I won't be too tacky and tell you what I paid for it, so let's just say it was under $126.

What a coincidence! I just saw one of these yesterday. Don't know if it was a '91, but it was a Bianchi Alfana in that same color. I was walking past a guy who was working on it and told him that was a nice bike. He said it was a great ride.

Strange that I saw one on ebay yesterday as well. I guess they'll be turning up everywhere now! The guy you talked to was correct. It IS a great ride. Top tube is at least an inch longer than my other steel road bikes, maybe that's a big part of it. It feels very different, easier to pedal and quite comfortable so far. Haven't had it on any kind of a long ride yet.

Way to go, seenoweevil! You seem to have the Midas Touch when it comes to finding nice used bikes.

How ridiculous, it can't be a good ride, it's not CF, Ti or some other exotic mix, it isn't custom fitted to you and it doesn't have hand made wheels - are you mad, it can't be a so. You must be a vintage steel bike snob totally blinded by all the well known facts. I wish you well in your obvious delusionary bliss.

Very nice. Are you sure it isn't to big or maybe small for you? If it is I could probably help you get rid of it.

Besides the fact you got a good deal on the bike- There is something extra about this bike.

It is a Bianchi in Celeste.

Worth more than just being a Great find. If you have a Bianchi- It has to be in the right colour. Adds 5mph to your average speed so don't let the bike down.

Same guy had a Cannondale r500 w/ polished frame that shone like new money with Rolf Vector 650c wheels. I think it was a 50. He had someone coming to pick it up - $250. He sold a '70's Raleigh Supercourse in great condition that his neighbor had given him years ago for $25, so I didn't get the best deal of the day. I thought he had the Raleigh for me too, but I didn't specifically say "Hold that one for me too!" so he sold it. I'm not going to cry though! I still came out fine!

I could find room in my stable for "a Bianchi in Celeste" - especially at less than $126.
