Wife's Hill Climbing Machine

We're senior citizens mostly riding our tandem, but my wife does seem to have an unnatural desire to climb the nearby hill (elevation profile attached). So we are upgrading here almost new CF ride triple to an 11-36 cassette, but giving up on the 24t chainring for now (going back to the 30t). My wife's ride is also being changed to bullhorns so it more resembles her tandem crew station - go figure. It's beyond a haul up that hill, but her getting stronger will really help our climbing on the tandem; I'll take her out once a week for an attempt Wish us luck.

That grade seems no problem. Just so you start in Lone Tree.

Would not mind betting that after the first ride up that hill- the wife will be wondering what all the fuss is about.

We have a hill locally that looks very daunting whan you are at the bottom- get riding and the awkward bit is on the approach- just a 4 or 5% but you know worse is to come. By the time you get to the 8% you are nicely warmed up- the legs are in and suddenly you are at the top. 8 miles is a bit long to suddenly find you have done the ride but it will be easier than you or the wife thinks.

And 8 miles----Don't forget to drink---Plenty.
