Thank you! Thank you! I figure it will take a couple of days to sink in, however, it all ready feels pretty good. After 37 years in the business (health care)I decided that it was time to leave while I still liked the patients. That being said, I freely admit that in those years I met very few people that were truly difficult to deal with. A bit of a miracle, especially as many of them had reason to be unhappy with their lot in life.
We had plenty of pie albeit, pizza pie and no one cried except a couple of administrators. (It was said, somewhat unkindly and certainly without just cause on my part, that those were tears of joy.)
I was going to start cleaning the house tomorrow as I now have plenty of time but gcottay and Kerlenbach have reminded me that its saturday and I always ride on saturday!

Don't worry about the house....there are much more important things in life than a clean house. I learned this years ago when my kids were still living at home. I decided I would much rather attend their sporting events, go riding with them, etc. You won't look back on life and remember the clean house but you will remember the times you spent doing things you enjoy or hanging out with family and friends

May you find kind and useful words on the new page in your life. May you record there things that meet with your satisfaction. Most of all, may you have fun.

Now that I've had a little time to get over the fact that I now hate you , congratulations! Enjoy!
Save a place for me. I'll be there in two years and one month (but who's counting?).

Enjoy the ride!, you've earned it after 37 years. I retired a year and a half ago, then went right back to work in the same job @ 3 days/week. For the time being I've got perpetual 4 day weekends (extra Saturdays).

Serious congrats, guy.
(I wonder if I WILL actually retire; my nest egg got wiped three years ago to save the house.... Even if I don't, eventually there will be a time when I will have a fair amount of time to myself, at which time I will likely spend 2x the time riding that I do now! Sorry, just had to share that.)

You'll find yourself doing things around the house thats been neglected the past 15 or so, then come to realize these do not need to be done now. I was busy as hell the first 6mos after I retired. Took a while to get into the swing of things.
