The commonality - HUMAN POWER & WHEELS; the diversity - AMAZING

Our commonalities:

We start with being 50+, some 60+, a few of us 70+, and at least one - maybe more - 80+ then we have

WHEELS - usually two, at times, three, rarely four, and even one - gluing us together,

along with human power, sometimes entirely, and occasionally assisted.

Our diversity:

Racers

Commuters

Recreational riders

Long distance riders

Short distance riders

Paceline types

"I don't have a car" riders

Weekly riders

Daily riders

Cyclocross folks

Tourers

Clydes and Athenas

Exhibition riders

New riders

"Forever" riders

Returning riders

"I make (and fix) my own bike" folks

Roadies,

Mtn bikers

Fixies, and SS

Bents

And, I think, someone doing triathlons

Liberals

Conservatives

and interesting combinations of the above

So, what did I forget?

Sort of amazing that we can chat with each other at all, and mostly civilly!!!

What I find even more amazing is that I fit into so many of those categories, all by myself. I had no idea I was such a big group!

I thought this thread was about types of cyclist, not types of bikes ? Which is it or is it both and why the political stereotyping ? Two kinds of political thinking, I think not !! Carry on .

Which would you like it to be?

And, as I asked - what did I leave out? Please add as you like.

Have a nice evening.

You may have left out grouches and agreeable types? I think there are, fortunately, more of the latter here.

The Liberal and Conservative tag no longer exist's in the UK. It is now the Coalition. Don't ask me to get political as I am not- and the only politics I want to get involved in is "Why should anyone buy a White bike"

But one important group.

"Those that ride for Pie"

And a group that changes the tag very soon after starting it but

"Those that ride for Health"

Old joke relating to one-time very frequent poster, nice guy and general funny person, Digital Gee.

Every now and then he pops in again to say hi. I don't know if he is riding much these days.

Dispatch riders? I'm not the only 50+ delivery boy out there. I am the only 50+ human powered freight hauler in DC, but there are many 50+ bike messengers here.

Some older riders I encountered in my travels today. The guy getting paid to ride (geezer #3) is definitely over 50, not sure about the other two.

This cat is over 50, I asked him. I would have tried to get his name and actual age if he wasn't so damn slow. I wasn't even on my bike when I took this shot, and I was not riding fast from this place after I remounted and soon overtook him. I rode as slow as I could but this crafty old coot rode even slower and missed the light a few blocks from where we spoke to each other.

One from the archives. 162 years combined on 2 wheels.

I think you just gave me my new tagline...

So, how slow was he?
