Need a bit of inspiration?
We had the New Bern (NC) MS ride this weekend. Here is story from local fish wrapper.
"The 2010 Bike MS event in New Bern wrapped up just before 4 p.m. Sunday when an 83-year-old man crossed the finish line as the last of 2,336 cyclists on the second day of cycling for a cure for multiple sclerosis.
Earl Whitley of Littleton rode a total of 125 miles over the two days – 50 on Saturday and 75 on Sunday partly in the rain – in support of his 52-year-old son with MS and all who suffer from that disease.
“I can’t walk for MS, I’m partly paralyzed myself, but I can ride a bike, so I did,” said Whitley, a retired paper mill worker who cycled two routes totaling 80 miles last year."

You don't suppose it's the bike that's keeping the 83-year old guy in good health, do you? My guess is, yeah. I'm convinced that my bike is keeping me alive.

In about a month I am scheduled to help with this year's Bay-to-Bay MS ride in San Diego County. It's a good fit for me, not only because of the obvious cycling connection, but also because my mother died from complications of MS at age 66, after battling a slowly progressing case of the disease since her early-to-mid 20s.
Many of you knew about vintage bicycle expert Sheldon Brown, who caught MS unusually late in life, at age 59, and died 4 years later.
