We now have 112 self-identified folks 50+.

When I first started the 50+ poll, I thought we might get about 20!

I know there are others hiding out there, but we certainly have enough now to support a small forum.

Thanks for letting us know you are here.

A bunch of folks 50+ can be a very powerful force in bicycleforums.net, if they so desire!

If you haven't "checked in" please indicate your age on the poll at:

Who Is 50 And Over? Forum?

We have had a few "how stupid I am" posts from younger folks who think a forum of 50+ folks is some sort of a joke, but, hey, we can't be accountable for their stupidity!

Also, we have some younger folks who have extreme difficulty understanding the phrase, "I am 50+ . . . " and persist in voting on polls designed to get the attitudes of those who ARE 50+! Again, we can not be responsible for their inability to comprehend a complicated phrase such as: "I am 50+ . . . . "

I would expect the traffic to slow down a bit after the initial flurry.

It is fascinating reading about the kinds of bicycling that 50+ ers do. Read and tell us about YOUR biking at:

Special Thread For 50+yo Bicyclists

Have fun!

Folks, it is about time we ended this 50+ forum.

We only have 112 folks self-identified as 50+!

We still have lot's of folks who think of us as "Old Farts" - in fact, we even have some folks in the 50+ forum who think of themselves as "Old Farts" and even, for crying out loud, use "old" and "Fart" and similar words in their screen names and language in posts!!

Time for the forum to die.

Yeah this is such a drag to have so few members in a forum. Why shucks when I was a kid our forums had thousands of members and were never so dull as this one. All you old farts are just too ornery and fussy for me.

My God - If you take away "ornery and fussy", just what does an old codger have left?

If that star is in anyway related to the Black Star of Death please have it changed to something more lively in order to reflect the prevailing attitudes of this forum,we laugh in the face of death or at least titter.

I noticed.

I just didn't care.

Kind of a funny, misshapen black star

The original post (above) was 2004. Yes, the poll was closed - maybe 5 years ago?

Actually, not a bad April Fools prank.

It's just that I have to rebel against any hint of authority.

Remember, that access to the Men Only forum is going to be worth it's weight in gold when the guys realise that you've been given permission to auction the black star to the highest bidder.

I guess that maybe some people are comfortable with being who they are.

So answer me this: Why are some people so surprised when somebody who has "Grouch" in there screen name posts something that's grouchy?

I figure it's an antonym, actually. A bit like calling someone tall 'shorty'.

So, I always imagine you as a happy young guy who likes carbon and titanium (and not just in your hip joints, either) .

Have you checked everybody's credentials?

I'm thinking that Cow Chip fellow might be a bit short of full maturity. If he were a wine he'd be called "Two Buck Chuck".
