Fencing bicycles - pics

Way back in the summer of 2009 I was riding one of my gravel road, trail, logging road, paved road combinations and came across this unique way to re-use old bicycles. I had seen it before, but never had a camera with me.

It's called recycling!

What a shame.

I see that and can't help but feel sad... I see at least two bicycles that I would love to have to refurbish/rebuild. I do admire the fact that someone can place all those bicycles out by the road, and nobody came along and took them. If I was to try something like that (heaven forbid) where I live; I'd be replacing parts of it daily.

Cool. But sad.

It could be a lucky location to break down.

Sorry. I love bicycles as much as the next guy, but that is one ugly fence!

There is a certain beauty in decay.

yes, it is. Unlike anything else a bicycle is more than metal & rubber. It is an elegant machine that deserves being recycled into new bicycles..........not buried alive.

+1 - and will only get worse over time.

So that is where I left my bike! CRAP, mom said that would happen some day.

I saw the title of this post and immediately thought of jousting... on bikes. Crazy enough to actually be possible :)
I like stapfam's fence better -

+1. I'm a little disappointed...

It doesn't bother me so much, if they're mostly cheap, Chinese assembly-line bikes. But thinking about hand-built expensive bikes, like titanium framed bikes, I would be sick.

Like cars in old auto salvage yards, I think about all the places they've been, the fun the people had with them, and the pride their owners once felt for them.

I think I want my bike buried with me...

xizangstan 10-26-10 10:55 PM

How many of you have ever gone out of your way, just scrounging for a nice bike? Where did you go - junk yards? Second hand stores? Metal recycling scrap yards?

Ha!

Is this what I've heard called a cyclone fence?
