New bike in April. just turned over 6000mi on the meter, 3rd set of tires, I averaged between 350mi a week, down to 200+ since weather cooled, and will drop to 100 during the cold winter here in Eastern Wash. I'm 76 and still teach part time, and ski on Nat. Ski Patrol. Not fast, but steady. Keep peddlin

I'm averaging right at 100 mi/wk with two days off per week. I have one weekend ride somewhere between 30 and 50 mi/wk. Man, I'd love to be able to double all of it.

Wow everyones total is impressive.

I bike commute 25 km a day year 'round. That's 6500km a year. Add weekends, tripping with my partner on our tandem and vacations: Let's see...It must be close to 10,000km

Ohmygod, I should buy a car!

i do 5000 miles a year. but it is almost all alone, and when not, with a friend. i don't ride in groups because i like experiencing the world alone, being able to take it in better that way. i would be tempted to go on a group tour, except that the one i went on, my low fat requirement led to problems, as i don't consider cheese or sausages low fat. also, for century rides, etc., in the pictures i see of the riders are riding racing bikes with no fenders, and they talk of drafting and such race-oriented techniques. if there were a group doing cycling tours for older people who eat more carefully and go at a more moderate pace, i would go. i don't mean going at a plodding rate around the block. as is obvious from reading in this forum, older doesn't mean short distance necessarily. anyone, by any chance, know of any rides like this?

I am 66, and have gone 1,300 miles thus far this year. I was hoping to make 2,000, but it doesn't look like I'll make it unless I do some longer rides. Last year, I did 1,250, so I have set a record for myself.

I am 62 and commute daily. Because I keep track of my mileage for club purposes my year is November 01 to October 31. This year I have 2,200 miles commuting and 2,400 miles of club rides. My goal is to finish the STP, Seattle to Portland 200+ miles, ride in one day, a 850+ mile solo ride down the Oregon Coast in July and finish the year with 5,000+ miles.

I get about 2,500 miles a year. Some weeks are much higher than others, so it varies quite a bit. I ride more in the good weather months. I'm toying with the idea of geting a beater garage sale bike, then shortening the chain so it doesn't shift in the back, removing the rear derailleur, finding a rear rack and bolting a milk crate to it, so I'll have a cheapo bike I can ride all over town for errands. That should cut down on spending for gas. I've been wondering if I should just shorten the chain so it fits one gear only, or getting the "Singulator" and using the front derailleur.

One, century plus (100miles+) ride a week plus another 75 to 100 miles per week, until it gets below freezing in New England. Then I switch to mountain bikes, the one with studded tires has no computer, maybe 60 plus a week (but equal calorie usage) from Dec. to March

55 miles a week commuting for about 2/3 of the year. When the wife drags me off the computer we'll do another 30 miles about 10 to 20 times a year.

I am 66, and in 2004 I rode 1750 miles, 33 miles a week. My goal for 2005 is 2200 (across the U.S.)

Given flat and paved:
Self-contained = 50 miles per day.
Fully supported = 65 miles per day.
Given 5% grades or better and constant (such as the Blue Ridge Parkway):
Self-contained = 4 mph when in motion... will ride 6 - 8 hours per day.
Fully supported = 6 mph when in motion... will ride 6 - 8 hours per day.

I am 59 years old. Last year I rode about 2200 miles and walked about 730 miles. I walk more in the winter and ride more in the warmer seasons. It is variation that keeps me interested.

I usually ride about 3,000 miles a year. For the last 3-4 weeks the weather has not been cooperating at all. Lot's of snow, freezing rain, and sub-zero temps.(sub-zero Fahrenheit) I had a bad fall when my front wheel hit some ice a few weeks back, as well. As soon as the temp gets back into the teens I'm gonna try out my new studded tires.

I just used the calculator and realized that the minimum I could have ridden last year was 7000 miles. Riding two days a week. The real number is probably over 7500 but I can't estimate any closer without possibly going over, so I prefer a conservative estimate. I surprised myself.

It's not who invents something....... It's who takes advantage of it.

That's pretty impressive.....you averaged 67 miles per ride, and you did it twice a week..... every week of the year. My hat is off to you!
