I drove in today!!!!
Some days it just happens!
My commute home last night was very unenjoyable due to heavy and aggressive traffic. I also am a bit beat up from life in general. So at 03:30 this morning with the musical sounds of my alarm clock in the background, I made an executive decision. I opted to 'Toyota' it in to work today.
I do expect to take a little ride tomorrow though, and then commute in to work for the night shift.

My motivation for riding in to work wained about the end of Sept - and it's less than 2 miles away and mostly on a MUP. Boy am I a slug.

I've been doing it a lot lately; the winds are just too unpredictable right now. Today would have been great, but yesterday would have been miserable: light headwind on the way in, but 20+MPH headwind coming home. After 8 hours on my feet, the last thing I want is to have to fight a headwind that will keep me nearly sitting still during the climb.

I did the same thing. There was light rain, with more rain and a blasting north wind from an arriving front in the forecast, plus I had shopping I needed to do, so after riding to work the other four days this week, I drove my Toyota (Tacoma), too. Yesterday was my 145th bike ride to work this year.

Have a lad at work that commutes 5 miles into work Everyday. Doesn't matter what the weather and he will be travelling by bike. I know its only 5 miles and he is young but I do pity him some mornings as I drive past him in the car and it is pouring down with rain and I can see him struggling into the headwind.
But if he kept his bike cleaner- I might offer him a lift on those bad days- but I don't want to risk him soaking the passenger seat with the amount of mud up his back. (No mudguards)
And I know he enjoys cycling.

So for my pennance I rode 37 miles along the lakeshore earlier today, 5 miles into work this evening, and I'll tool around a bit in the morning on the way home. Ya think maybe 20 miles or so would be a suficient punishment?!?! (remember, I will have been at work for 12.5 hours before the ride and I got up at 09:00 a.m. this morning...no nap).
