    Silver Years

My friend Bill WON 4 Silver Medals in The Texas Senior Games last week end.
He raced in the 75-79 bracket.

    5K time Trial
    10K Time Trial
    20K Road Race
    40K Road Race
5K and 10K time trials. 20K and 40K Road Race. All par*ticipants must wear an ANSI or Snell approved helmet dur*ing road race events.

He is 78 years old and is very proud to wear them.

He is fast, he can kick my butt.

That's great. Were you in any of the races?

So, let's hear about the gold medal winners. Always great to hear these stories. Makes me realize that at 57, I still have a (hopefully long) cycling future.

Congratulations to Bill! I hope I'm still riding at his age.

He's got the face of a guy who won't quit.

    Good for him!

Also - just noticed the rear cassette - you gotta be strong to push those gears.

He reminds me of Foxy Grandpa from Davis, CA, of Foxy Fall fame. Every year Foxy would go back to Nationals to see who was still alive in his age group. He considered the weekly Tuesday Night time trial to great if he beat all the women.

I remember him from Bike World and Bicycling magazines back in the '70's.

And his chain rings aren't dinky. I wouldn't want to get him upset. I think he could kick some serious butt...

I suggest you don't pick any fights with him. It might be a good idea to always let him win. Just saying...

I also see he is using the large chain ring.
