Slide show: for your viewing enjoyment

I presented the slide show last night -- they loved it.

What began as a group for "seniors" (sponsored by Claremont's Joslyn Senior Center) has evolved into a group whose average age is much younger. We don't race, but we have riders of all skill levels from century riders to beginners and everything in between (the Tuesday group is a beginner's ride led by one or two experienced cyclists).

Oh -- the guy on the Bike Friday? Careful you don't inhale the dust when he blows past you on big steep hills.

Turn up the music, and enjoy!

Wow, Yen! Nice job! Your group looks like a lot of fun. Incidentally and by odd coincidence, I was listening to bagpipe music, including "Scotland the Brave", online just this morning! (My father played the pipes.) Nice choice of music!!
Thanks for sharing!

Thank you. It is a fun group. They loved the show but their expectations were very low --- I think they expected just a series of slides with no music, no sound, nothing but pictures. They were an active audience with lots of laughter and cheering, and I was asked to do it again next year.

Miss Kenton -- that bagpipe piece is stirring, isn't it? I took the photo of the bagpipe players in the park the morning of the Tour de Foothills; I thought the piece synced perfectly with that set of photos.

Yes, agree. I loved the music selection. I had never heard the wonderful, jazzy Livingston Taylor piece. Beats the hell out of the overplayed "I Want to Ride My Bicycle" by Queen, which I've always detested! Thanks for not using it!

Canadian comedian David Broadfoot recognizes the Scots as the people who gave us the bagpipe,..... and the two tunes that go with it. The other one is Amazing Grace I think.

Thank you.

I carefully chose the music --- I wanted to use music that would appeal to a broad range of people, nothing edgy. I listened to some of the Queen tune on iTunes and didn't care for it.

What a great presentation! You really put thought and effort in it. The quote of the year made me smile, what truth and wisdom.
It must be wonderful to have a group like that!

Thank you --- it is a great group. That quote came from our 81-year-old president. She still rides her bike around town, to run errands etc. in addition to the group rides. She climbs hills, though slowly due to diminished lung capacity, but otherwise has no health issues and no aches or pains! She can ride 40-50+ miles with ease, then go home and swim/hike/walk then pack to leave for an overseas trip on the same day. She is amazing. Younger Next Year!

Jen,
What a fantastic job! This shows the joys of cycling with other folks that share the passion for the ride, each other and food. I hope you got a standing ovation from your group.

Yen-that is a priceless piece of work that the group will enjoy for years. Seeing Woody Creek, the trails in Glenwood Springs and the surrounding area provoked some terrific memories here. Looks like you have a terrific group of people to enjoy time with on the bike.

Very nice job on the slideshow and a great bunch of rides. Good music selection, too. Although the bicycle song by Queen is overused for bike related material and you were right not to use it here, I think it and the accompanying instrumental are classic. How could anyone detest any song that inspired that album cover art.

Thanks, everyone.

Pam - Not a standing ovation, but very enthusiastic applause and cheering. While the show was running there were whoops and hollers and laughter. I'm sure the show means more to our group that to anyone else (except those of you who went to GWS last year) as they reflected on this year's rides and events featured in the show.

Joe - I thought you'd like that segment. Didn't we have a great time!!

I started working on it Sunday night before Thanksgiving, and finished the following Sunday -- every free minute after work, on Thanksgiving Day after our TD ride (while Hubby cooked our entire meal ), and Friday/Saturday after the bike rides. But I loved it and am already planning (in my head) next year's show.
