It's ugly out there. The gates are down on the interstate -- no travel allowed.

Forecast 3-6" of snow, a high of 10 degrees and winds 20-35 mph. A low tonight of -8 F.

8" of snow today, current temp of 5 F, and peak wind gust of 49 mph.

I have tomorrow off, but I don't think I'll be biking outside.

And where is here for you? I'm on I35 at Williams Ia for the night. I90 west was closed at I35 when I passed thru a couple of hours ago. I heard there were some closures in Wisconsin too.
Iv'e been putting off checking the forcast for tomorrow's adventure, but I guess I better get to it.

Seattle getting hit w/big rainstorms this weekend, lots of local flooding.

Went out for a ride while the rain was not-so-heavy and stopped to take photos of this mudslide about 2 miles from my house. There is a home at the top of this hill; it's now about 10 feet closer to the edge than it was.

For a Florida county and our usual temperature averages it is cold and windy here. Rain last night and the thermometer dropped all night and has still slowly done so today. The winds are gusting to 30-35 kts here and that is unusual. Long term (the week) is for lows in the mid-20's tonight and tomorrow with slow rise in highs from the low 50's to mid-60'd mid week and rain Wednesday and Thursday with a front and back to the mid-20's for lows. We are usually having lows in the low-40's and highs between the mid-60's and low- 70's.

Nothing like the northern half of the country or in Quebec where our son is finishing up a church mission, lots and lots of snow. Those pictures of Colorado are so beautiful and the shear amount of rain in the Pacific NW is staggering. Only in a hurricane or tropical storm here. Everyone riding or driving in the snow, please be careful and put the winter kit on along with the snow tires, and be careful.

Bill

It was 78 F at about 11 AM. Sunny, little bit of wind here in the Southern California near desert. But it gets cold at night, sometimes around 40.

The Boston area is getting smacked hard by a Nor 'Easter at this moment. But, in a rare (for winter) occurrence, we are on the warm side of the storm, so it is a heavy rain event. But, this morning, the local police department put out a "reverse 911 call". Reason: The roadways were glazed in ice. I heard there were fifteen accidents in the span of a few minutes, all involving sliding cars.

Well, the good news is, for the rest of the week, it's supposed to be sunny. I'll just leave this link here. Please note, the forecast *will* change.

We had our first dusting of snow last night and I got to make first tracks on the way to work. I guess this signals the start of the winter cycling season. As is usual around this time of year, hoping for a White Christmas. For the next few days, high temperatures will be below freezing, which helps keep my hopes up. This Saturday, I will bring my bike to the LBS guy so he can mount my studded winter tires and lube the brake drums.

The one thing I absolutely don't miss about living up North, shoveling snow.
I can watch hockey on tv, live without ice fishing, skate at a local indoor rink and fly to a resort to snow ski.

but I do not miss shoveling snow at all.

You who have to have my deepest sympathies.

High temperature near 65 today and 67 was the official temperature yesterday at the airport. Rain is predicted for Saturday and Sunday. This is the time of year we get gentle rains as compared to cloudbursts and flooding in the summer. The flowers that will bloom briefly in the Spring are already springing forth. I noticed them when I was hiking the sand dunes in the MJojave Desert National Conservation Area last weekend.
