Worst Christmas Music?

Santa Got Run Over by a Reindeer can be found on many Worst Christmas Songs lists.
What could be worse? My rendition of it.

Happy Holidays, Grandma!

My #1 least favorite: "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas." I always hope the kid gets it--and it's the last we hear of her.

The little drummer boy. Probably the worst version of it is the one by the Ray Coniff Singers.

In my book, all Christmas music is bad. Bah!

Except, that is, for "Jingle Bells" by those barking dogs.

Any holiday song by Ozzy Osbourne or Jessica Simpson. A song by both???? sorry to ruin your day with this stinker. You win a candy cane if you can watch the whole thing.

There's some pretty dreadful stuff here:

https://ernienotbert.blogspot.com/

Usually Buster at Big Ten Inch Record has some pretty good items, but the latest offering is pretty bad:

https://big10inchrecord.blogspot.com/

All free to download, and more or less legal.

I have yet to hear a version of "Last Christmas" that I like. The original was by Wham! (George Michael). A couple of versions have been barely tolerable, but most are terrible. I have no idea why everyone who makes a Christmas album these days feels the need to cover it.

My own least favorite carol is the Coventry Carol, AKA Lullay, Lullay, Thou Little Tiny Child. It's not that its bad itself, just that it's often performed in a very sluggish fashion. Yes, Herod's Slaughter of the Innocents is a depressing subject, but still.....

My favorite is The Holly and the Ivy. It was my mom's favorite too.

I picked up a copy of The Tijuana Brass Christmas Album this year and was disappointed (as the harmony trumpet player in a teenaged TJB cover band many years ago) to find way too many cheesy vocal intros and backing parts. Too many singers, not enough Brass.

On the other hand, Booker T and the MG's always gets me in an Xmas groove.

These lists are really making the rounds on the Interwebs these days. My own personal dysfavorite is "Jingle Bell Rock".

On a more pleasant note:

1. I must be the last living Anglophone who has heard Susan Boyle. I listened to her for the first time this weekend, her Xmas album no less. What a beautiful voice. Just amazing.

2. I had never heard of Jackie Evancho until her CD/DVD showed up here this weekend. I watched her rendition of Pie Jesu. Absolutely angelic. What a gift. I hope she uses it wisely.

3. Even you bah humbugeroos should go to Pandora and enter "Vince Guaraldi Trio/Holiday". If you can't enjoy that you really should be boiled in your own plum pudding and have a stake of holly driven through your heart.

the Grinch song ( I heard it on the radio today and it has been in my head ALL DAY that and Jingle Bell Rock are probably my least favorites... I have a version of White Christmas played by a group from Bolivia on the quena (bamboo flute) and pan pipes (among other instruments) that is absolutely STUNNING. I will see if I can find it on You-tube and send it out.

Worst ever? Porky Pig's rendition of Blue Christmas made famous by Elvis! Almost wrecked my truck from laughing the other day when it came over the radio.

I agree, she has a fantastic voice. I listened to some of her Christmas cd and found it odd that one of the songs included was Leonard's Cohen's "Hallelujah." While this is one of my favorite songs, especially Rufus Wainwright's version, it is, um, certainly not a religious hymn nor a Christmas song!

Now that this thread has morphed into the good and the bad, I'll list one of my favs: Twelve Days of Christmas by Da Yoopers. Unfortunately, I can't find it recorded on the Internet anywhere. But I got some of the lyrics:

(organ starts) By the way, that's ME on the organ.
B: Oh, geez.
D: You start...
B: OK...

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,
A beer.

D: On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me,
Two turtle-necks
B: And a beer.
...
