Christmas Eve ride

After being sick and all the rain I haven't been riding much. Yesterday was beautiful and I didn't have to work so out I went.
After a long climb I faced this descent.

After that I climbed up there and beyond.

Once at the top there was this view from one side of the ridge.

And this view on the other side.

On the way home I went down there.

Another view of that valley and the climb out the other end. One of my favorite view spots.

I started out alone but was caught by a guy who I worked with 12 years ago and haven't seen since. I didn't even know he rode road bikes. It was fun catching up on stories about people we worked with. A great Friday.

Thanks Beverly. It's pretty great this time of year in these hills. Hardly any cars on the ride, either.

Great ride & thx for wonderful pics. Approx how many miles?
Clear days at or near coastal CA can be spectacular.

Here's another Ohioan drooling over those pics, John.

I think only about 35 miles but about 3.5 hours total. In the first ridge top view pic you can see a faint outline of part of Catalina Island and the very tiny square shapes are the buildings in downtown L.A.

Looks like a beautiful ride, big john. Was this in the Santa Monica mountains? I have been riding primarily in the Mt Baldy foothill area and the various river trails, but am interested in exploring more parts of LA this year. Your photos make me want to go there.

Not the Santa Monicas, it's Little Tujunga Canyon on the edge of the San Gabriels. About 30 miles from the Encanto Park/GMR area.

That looks just like Central Indiana, except completely different. Thanks for sharing.
