Looks like the back-to-back bent guys were having technical issues that kept them from going in a straight line. Perhaps their gear had been tampered with??
The winners were so very fast that how can you not wonder about doping? Just saying.

Pretty cool videos. Now we can debate fiberglas hulls vs. carbon fiber.

That's neat. I wouldn't have bet that any of them would be able to get going fast enough to get up on the foils. I also noticed that on the faster unfaired tandem the riders were out-of-phase.

I noticed in the first segment the solo boat was nearly as fast as the tandem. Cool.

I saw that too. Then when the specs for the boat were given and I saw counter-rotating propellers, it made sense that the pedals didn't have to be in sync. Each rider is pushing his own prop.

Really cool and I want one of whatever they are. Just wondering why the need for the bike helmets? I don't recall Olympic rowers needing helmets.

It doesn't rain enough in Victoria to need a bike like that.
Maybe Portland, OR, or Seattle, WA.

It's Japan...birthplace of straps on hard hats for construction workers...and the notion you can't be too safe.

So, how does 15% tire drop figure into maximizing performance in those competitions?

The helmets must be for when they fall off the saddle and hit their head on the boat.

Send them upstream on the Mississippi, that would be a good hill climb.
