A little less depressed

It happened! We finally had a thaw! It was a short one-day deal but it was a thaw.

Though I finished the night shift on Tuesday morning and had a late morning doctor's appointment (skin issues), I did get out for a nice 15 miler on 'The Beast' later in the day. It was quite theraputic. What a thrill to be rolling along on dry, bare pavement instead of picking my way through the rutted snow and patches of ice I've been dealing with on my commutes.

'The Beast' near the shore of Lake Ontario...

I was able to dis-associate myself from the business of controlling the bike and just allowed myself to get totally engrossed in my surroundings. All my worries melted away as I watched nature dealing with the the snow and ice along the lake and ponds. All was well with the world this afternoon. I took some pictures and decided to attempt posting a January issue of 'The View From my Saddle' later in the month.

It's amazing how an overcast, cloudy day can provide so much sunshine for the soul.

A+ for Attitude

Glad you got an enjoyable ride in Cranky. We're getting more snow overnight. I won't ride, but I may get out for a hike this weekend.

I have to give you folks that live in the cold climates, you all rock!! I don't think I would have the intestinal fortitude to brave the elements that you do. I posted in the "did you ride today" and was crying about the wind that liked to kill me off, and it was 71 degrees. I feel guilty for complaining about the wind now. Well maybe a little. The wind was pretty hard on me. It took me an hour longer to get to my turnaround point at Einstein's Bagels than it usually does.

My son went to U of R. I've seen Mt. Wegmans. I simply can't picture living in Rochester in the winter.............and I'm from CT, not the warmer climes.

Glad you could get your ride in. I live in the Dayton, OH area so I know what your talking about. We got between four to five inches of snow yesterday, and yes it is headed your way. Maybe I can get back out in the next few days. Right now It is five degrees with a pretty good wind. Not a good day to ride. Soon hopefully!
