Yeeha! Just had my cardio test.
This evening I went to the hospital for my cardio treadmill test. Result: everything is back to normal. The test was quite intensive and the physiologist who did the test complemented me on my recovery time. From a bp of 240/90, heart rate 170, I recovered to bp 110/70 and heart rate 66 in about 1 min 45 seconds. To say I'm pleased with this is an understatement. I can now turn my attention back to the trailhead this weekend. Can't wait. Notch this one up as yet another success for the 50+ brigade!

One of the effects of maturing, is that wherever possible, we try to keep ourselves in shape. Unfortunately, once we get to a level of fitness that is good by anyones standards, we get complacent. 5 years ago, I was the fittest I had been for years. I was running my slightly younger riding partner into the ground, and he was 13 stone of muscle. 3 days after doing a 65 miler in the fastest time I had ever done it, Severe angina and 3 months later a bypass.
It is good to see that you are setting the example to the rest of us by having the medical, even though you don't need it as you are obviously fit. Lets hope that others amongst us take your example. Incidentally, the bypass did not stop me riding and am back riding stronger than ever, albeit a bit slower, but the reconditioned tubes probably have a bit to do with this
