Fun ride by conversation today
On my ride today, headed slightly uphill (and hence going slower than usual), I saw someone kicking ice chunks across the road from a driveway. After threading my way through the chunks that didn't make it all the way across I waved and the woman said,
Ah, my favorite harbinger of spring, the bicycle.
I've been out here.
All winter?
Pretty much.
OK, you can be my favorite harbinger of winter.
I don't wanna be THAAAT!
which produced a big belly laugh, that followed me as I rode past!

Last March I stopped into a store north of Fort Bragg, CA on the coast to get some quick calories. As I was standing in line a woman exclaimed, "Spring is here. I've seen my first cyclist." I ride year-round, but I rarely get more than 100 miles from home during the winter.
