Opinions on Trek 4500

So I wandered into a Trek store today. The Trek 3900 was the bike that brought me back to cycling in 2005.

I don't need another bike - I don't use the two I have nearly enough as it is. That said, I found myself thinking a hardtail would be nice to have now that spring is on the way. There are a few trails nearby that would be fun to do.

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with and would offer opinions on the Trek 4500, a modestly priced ($800?) bike with front suspension and disc brakes.

It looks like this:

I know. I have a white screaming fast lightning bolt bike, and a black go for coffee or get some groceries bike. I thought red might be a nice change.

I thought Specialized held the patent on red.

I have no comment on the bike though. Do you have a mtb now?

My daughter has one-except it's blue. It's a nice MTB. Al frame keeps the weight down a bit. You can get the '10 for a lot less but they are not red!
