Local bike friendly town

I have been away for awhile but thought you all might enjoy this article about Inverness Florida. Due mostly to the popularity of the Withlacoochee trail our area seems to be getting more bike friendly every year.

Looks good, lets hope it continues and spreads to other areas.

That's awesome.

My wife and I were down there last month. I did the Withlacoochee Ride on March 19. The trail is awesome.
Now we're looking at our finances and trying to figure out if we want (can afford) to live there during the winter months. Yeah, I know, more snowbirds. I used to live in Orlando so know all about them.

We're supposed to be there in Oct so I'm planning to do the Rails to Trails Ride on Oct 2.

That was a nice read! Looks to be about an hour north of the Tampa / St. Petersburg area, yes?

I have long heard that the Southern most part of Florida, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, etc. is not bike friendly at all.

My wife and I do the October ride every year. I think we may have missed only 1 since the rides started.

We are about an hour and a half North of Tampa.

I don't really know about that. We usually go North in the summer for vacation to cool down a little.
