I'm afflicted with culinary laziness so eat anything fast and available that requires little or no preparation.

Since it's favorite comfort food you asked for, I'll go with beer/beers. A PBJ or recovery drink would be the reccomended choice by my coach.

Peanut butter and crackers, or cheese and crackers, or
chips and salsa.

With coffee.

In the hot part of the year I ride early, try to leave the house
about 3am, back around 7am, BIG breakfast. Eggs, hashbrowns,
bacon, dry toast, OJ, coffee.

mmmm I thought this thread was about post-ride COMFORT foods... somehow yogurt and berries and 'frig meat, not so much.

I do agree with the "ice tea". On a hot day I start dreaming about the ice tea I am going to have after the ride. Of course, I have the tea with a good ol'e fashion hamburger (no dressing, just lettuce, 'maters and pickles) at the local cafe all the cyclists go to.

Last year, after spending a week camping and mountain biking, when we got back to civilzation that DQ Blizzard was awesome!

Yeah, I think many of the answers are what people say they typically eat and I think some may be fudging it a bit toward the healthy side.

I have developed an after ride craving for the Wendy's $1 choclate frosty. They claim it is made with real chocolate, real cream ect so it must be real healthy

Most of my rides don't have a Wendy's nearby however.

It depends on the season. In the summer, grilled salmon and vegetables. In the winter, chili or a stir fry with ginger and garlic. And beer.

Forget iced tea-- iced peppermint tea. Now THAT is dango comfort food. Grandma had a mint garden. Would make during the summer.

I was thinking today during my run how good some Nuun would be. .. And a box. . uh, I mean bowl of Golden Grahams.

Reese's Puffs.

Hell, cereal and milk.

I keep a variety of olives in my fridge. I use them and pickles for snack instead of the junk foods. I found that once I start eating sugary or carb loaded stuff I over eat.

The first course is whatever is ready to be eaten immediately.
Next I like a bagel sandwich with ham or turkey and some mayo, with a tall glass of milk.
After a shower I'm hungry again, this time maybe PBJ on a bagel.

OTOH, if there's someone waiting with pizza and beer, like after some brevets, that's just about perfect.
