Things you see on a ride: Part N + 1

My favorite ride goes out through town, into the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, past the space shuttle launch pads, and out to Playalinda Beach. The road along the beach goes for about four miles along a beautiful, undeveloped beach, the best in Florida. The road ends at a nude beach. Along the road are alligators, gopher tortoises, snakes, wild pigs, and all sorts of interesting things.

Today I rode 80 miles out to the beach and back twice. It was a beautiful day; not too hot, not much wind, perfectly sunny. The second time approaching the nude beach at about mile 60, I saw a man and an attractive young woman walking along the road coming toward me. She was vigorously adjusting her sundress when - plop - out popped one of the twins. The left one, it was. I figured it was for me, but it probably was an accident.

Cycling is good for an old guy's heart.

Hmmmm...

Drat! Don't think I have anything quite that good.

Things I've seen over the years:
-A washing machine, in the middle of state route 27. It was standing upright, as though waiting for its next load. People were having to swerve to avoid it.

-A Ford Mustang, fully engulfed in flames, near the Alewife MBTA station.

-A guy in Harvard Square, wearing a sandwich board, proclaiming that the world was going to end. This was about two years ago. I thought all those dudes vanished with the 70s. Guess not.

-Two suburban female types, in a very heated shouting match near Walden's Pond.
Not sure what the exact cause might have been, but it was a very hot day, and Walden's pond fills up very rapidly on such days. Tempers on motorists are short, to put it mildly. They were both standing outside their SUV's, shrieking at each other. A MA state trooper, (also a woman and looking very fed up) got between them. Gotta love it.

Pictures, or it didn't happen

Just hoping.

I'm confused. Is that hoping, like the easter bunny, or hoping, as in to hope?

Now I see: hoping to hope, hopping down the bunny trail.

Life is good.

With 300,000,000 people in the country it is a zoo. Just sit back and watch the animals.

Man, the only thing out of the ordinary I saw during my ride this morning was four whitetail deer. They emerged from the underbrush at the side of the trail (Chester Valley Trail, near Frazer, Pa.) I was riding on, facing east (I was west of them, riding east). Not wanting to chance a deer-bike collision, I made some audible clicking sounds. They heard me, and starting sprinting away from me until they found a suitable place to duck back into the underbrush. Not an exposed nipple to be seen!
