How about clueing us in on your location?

    From recent threads:

    Where I live . . .

    It rains a lot here . . .

You wouldn't believe the number of potholes around here . . .

    Hey, if you go to

    "Settings"

    "Edit profile"

    then scroll down to "Location"

And enter something about your location such as the city or even the state where you live, this will show up under your Avatar, helping us all to know where "Here" or "Where I live" actually is, so we don't have to guess.

And, words like "Nirvana," "Where the mountains meet the sea," "East of Eden," or "This small universe" while they may be true - don't really help!!

Check out under my Avatar to the left.

    Thanks so much.

Lots of folks don't want all their info broadcast on the net. State location yeah but not always.

Yes, but there are about 38 million folks in CA, 5 million in CO, and even 40,000 in Parker, CO. I don't think that saying I live in Parker, CO, is much of an identifying factor. Besides, I am all over the internet - with web pages, letters, blogs, etc., etc. But, of course, it is the individual's choice. I have personally given up all pretense of privacy in our current world.

Where I live, Nirvana, where the mountains meet the sea, just East of Eden, in this small universe , we don't share that kind of information. If any of you Mericans know where I live, then I give you a pat on the head.

You state you live in "Upper Canada" - That's good enough for me and provides a good reference point.

I would understand if many folks in the US conclude that Upper Canada is somewhere up in the Arctic, whereas in fact it's a historical entity that now comprises mostly southern Ontario. Which is why I didn't need to travel to Tuktoyaktuk to have my colonoscopy done at the Upper Canada Lower Bowel Clinic.

I've had several since 1999 but have settled on my beloved 2001 Litespeed Tuscany and my latest, a 2013 Cannondale CAAD 10.

I got a phone call from a mysterious stranger asking about you last week. I told them . . . . well, I can't tell you what I told them, but you might want to look over your shoulder a bit more.

I think the folks who are concerned about such things are thinking of those even less reputable than CIA and KGB.

Look at the back of your left hand. I live near the tip of the ring finger.
Having a flat tire as part of the total cycling experience is highly overrated. Knowing how to fix one quickly is not.

I live four miles west of Laguna Seca Raceway. Now that you know, join me and the group for the Tuesday Morning Ride!

Security? No credit card, SSN, driver's license, or any other pertinent numbers will ever be posted here. *Poof*! You've seen my picture, BUT...is that really me?? *Poof* again!

I don't worry about the small stuff. I'm a social creature, and I don't mind people knowing *about* where I live and ride.

Downtown Sandfly, GA (click here for map)

We've got a Piggly Wiggly grocery, two gas stations, a liquor store and Deb's Pub and Grub. Oh, and the best BBQ at the eponymous Sandfly BBQ.

Ok, did you fall asleep in US geography class?

Good thread. "Jim from Boston"...d'uh, that's Boston Massachusetts.

I actually chose my screen name not so much for location, but because I'm a radio talk show fan and when I (rarely) call in, I'm introduced as Jim from Boston ("...and now here's Jim from Boston; what's up, Jim?"). Conversely, when I call or post my favorite station I add the appellation "Your Number One Fan among Boston's Bicycle Commuters" in particular to tweak a curmudgeonly anti-bicyclist host.

A local BF subscriber once called me "James de Boston"; wished I had thought of that.

Funny you should mention that. Back in 1977, our car broke down in that town and the garage owner put us up for the night. I looked up the location on Mapquest to confirm my memory. That was long before I-275 was built. Are you in Traverse City?

I pastored a church in the New Boston area back in '93-96. Very rural and still is.
