Getten out of Dodge.

Got the RV loaded and bikes too. Leaving in the morning to see the great grandkids and other family members in four states. With the price of fuel, not sure if we can afford to get back home again :-o) $310.00 to fill it up this morning. We need to bring back the Stanley Steamer again. Going to the Grand Canyon first then up to Idaho, over Washington, down to Oregon and Mt. Shasta Ca. then southern Ca to see the wife mom and sisters. Hope to get some ridding in along the way too. For sure it will be a lot cooler than the Arizona desert.

$310 for a tank of fuel--What size tank is that?

Fuel is expensive over here It costs me about $105 for the 9 gallons to fill my van. Mind you-I do get 50 miles to the gallon with my small diesel engine.

$310??
When we did our cross country trip last spring (2010) we averaged 33 mpg. We got all the way to Washington (Olympic peninsula) for $310.
Do you REALLY need that RV?

Have fun.

Anyway, enjoy your trip.

Try $1.30 a litre plus for regular and expected to go higher in the next few weeks, it's summer you know. (3.8 liter per US gallon.)

Enjoy your trip!! Your itinerary sounds terrific!

Fuel costs.
I would gladly trade fuel costs with our friends in Europe if they would also trade Health Care and education costs with us.

Ah well, that's all for the economists to figure out I guess....meanwhile we'll all just keep plugging along as best as we can.

Hey you figured it out, in other places they have different priorities, the US priority is cheap gas. Canada and much of Europe the priority is universally accessible health care and education, so yeah gas is more expensive, but that has been the case for a long time, it's why the majority of cars have 4 bangers and small 6's and long car trips require a lot of forethought.
