If you could be the best at some aspect of cycling......

what would it be? For me it would be the "Race of Truth." There is something very beautiful about that ride to me.

I would like to be cycling 10 to 15 days a month for the next 25 years and complete a hilly century event at age 75.

I want to get a speeding ticket on my bike. When that happens, I will give up this silly sport.

No no no....you take that ticket and fix it to your bike and ride everywhere showing it to everyone. At least that's what I would do.

I am best in all aspects of cycling in the 66 year old, 195 pound, 5'8", 1989 Trek Aluminum bright blue road bike classification that I know of. At least I have not met or seen anyone out there in my area to match. I did get a speeding ticket on a bicycle when I was nineteen(was i really 19? so long ago).

My goal is to be the King of Recovery. Now if you'll excuse me, it's time for some power-nap intervals.

A great climber...

On a group ride this morning, we hit a climb that started steep. I was still on the 53 ring, and feeling a nice rhythm as the group slowed to start the grind, so I did my best "dancing on the pedals", split a gap between two guys, and launched off the front. "There goes Contador!" a friend said, then added "He sure has gotten taller!" Of course it wasn't long before they passed me, and the proper order of the universe was restored, because, well I can't climb!!!

When we got to the turnaround spot, I told them that was my "If you know you are screwed, attack." move.

There is a tendency to want to be good at what you aren't good at!

It would have to be hills. I love to do them but that being said, I'm not real good at it, and not real fast either.

To be a good ambasador for Bicycling and to be able to keep riding until I am called home. Oh, and to have Monica beside me for these years, as we have been for 35 years now.
