My obsession addiction TV show

My Strange Addiction:

Dude on there rode bikes/ trainer like constantly. Can hardly walk normally. Has worn out his hip joints. "But it has nothing to do with the bike riding"
What an idiot!
Anyone seen this?
Dude, if you are on this site you need help! Mainly psychological help. Just trying to be nice :)

I watched that last night... OK please... all I can say is GET A LIFE! I wonder how his wife puts up with it. And when its to the detriment not benefit of the body it is an addiction.

BTW have any idea what type of road bike he has. It had real strange geometry.

I don't think he's married. The lady they showed was "his friend"(I think). I mean wtf?
His bike did look funky. The "seat tube" came out of the main frame with 'no support'.

I also saw the show. Here's a link to a short segment of it. http://tlc.howstuffworks.com/tv/my-strange-addiction

His bike appears to be some type of soft ride tri bike.

I thought that I was addicted because I ride every day. I can see that I have a very, very long way to go before coming close to this guy.

Reality Television. How did we get along without it?

bigbadwullf 08-02-11 08:00 AM

This isn't a 'reality show'. It's real. These people are nuts.
One lady ate rocks. One ate foam. One ate COMET! One at toilet paper. I wonder what the obsession is with eating?
The girl that did taxidermy just has an odd hobby. I don't see that as an obsession for her.

No, this is not a reality TV show, where people ACT to make it look like a real thing. Never understood the fascination with all that. Survivor sucked IMHO. And this Bachelor thing? 100% pure BS.

Yes, the producers seem taken with the subject of pica (consumption of items other than food or drink.)

My take on the bike riding dude.
His hips hurt. He rides to get the analgesic effect from the endorphins and is addicted to them like people would be addicted to pain killers. Pretty much the same thing.
If I employed him I would have him counselled like a drug addict. But then again you have this "professor tenure" BS. Like they are above all this?

Some reality television is staged and some is just pointing the camera at unstaged behavior.

I thought she was his wife - he has a son...

These shows are inetresting... I have to take them in small doses - like I can't watch the whole thing. They frustrate me and make me sad so I usually turn the channel. It's interesting to know there are all these weird addictions out - I have some (food for instance) but it doesn;t come close to eating rocks or dryer sheets!
