Headwind - Recovery during CLIMBING!
Did 64 mi this morning, a beautiful nice country ride which really was made challenging by 20mph headwinds/crosswinds for 3/4 of the ride.
Has a couple of stiff climbs, never would have considered I would ever use a climb for recovery! I think the benefit of the tailwind doesn't compare to the pain caused by a headwind. Was strange to be able to pedal up to 20 mph to match the wind! I think Clyde here got to burn a couple of extra calories today. |
You can always gear down, relax and enjoy the breeze.

Round here we have enough hills to say they are hard. We have enough wind that at some point of a ride you will encounter a Tailwind. But never had a Tailwind on a hill before.
Lucky basket. |

Lucky basket. Today, we ride to the brewery. Headwinds be damned! |
I hate it when wind shifts and swirls around where you just cant ever depend on the luxury of a tailwind. Ride on anyway.

Last year riding in southern AZ in March the headwinds were 20MPH + on several days, including climbing & descending on mountain passes. Never workd so hard climbing for no reward!
