They are out there, we just don't get to hear about them very often. I doubt that I will be around to make a hundred, let alone participate in any type of sporting event.

I'd like to ride 10 times my age, but if it's going to be in miles I better start training. Guess it's going to have to be kilometers

I have a friend who is a physical wreck (obese, no balance due to a prior brain tumor, missing half his endocrine system from the tumor, medication side-effect issues) who has just recently decided he is not too old to take up cycling (on a trike). I'll have to forward these articles to him. His ulterior motive is to be able to go car-free so he can stop taking the anti-seizure medicine that seems to disagree with him. He only takes that med. so he can drive.
There's only one way to find out what you can do...try.

Now that is an accomplishment worthy of being described as awesome. Congratulations Mr. Singh.

I saw him on the news tonight. He is amazing!
I have my own hero. Her name is Eiko, but she is known on the MS City to Shore ride as "The Legend." She rides the 75-mile ride on Saturday and returns the 75 miles the next day. She has been doing it for 27 years. On a single speed bike. In a dress. And high heels. She is 86 years old.

That just blows me away. I hope Guinness can find the documentation of his birth so he can go into the book of records with no asterisk.
Hard to say if such proof can be found that far back in that part of the world.

Just to add my admiration
And also to add a memory that I've previously posted - 1990, New York City Marathon, I was pipped to the post by the fellow winning ' men 80 plus'. Well, I thought my 3.45 was ok!!! He was 81, I was 36!

Just heard on the news that the Guinness book of records will NOT recognize him as the world's oldest marathoner. apparently, the date of his birth could not be verified.

That is really cool. Whats great is that at 100 his knees are fine, I'm only 58 and my knees can't handle running anymore. But I plan to ride my bikes till whenever the good Lord takes me home or physically for some reason I can't, and if that is by some chance 100 then I'll be riding.
