As Seen on Today's Ride
My riding buddy Jeff and I went for a ride today after Sunday services. We rode south out of Fayetteville along U.S. 71 to Winslow and back.
We took a bio-break at the Brentwood rest area on the return leg. As we're sitting there discussing the economy, the wind, the temperature, chain lube, double vs. triple, the fit runners we saw earlier in the ride, the value of Avagadro's number to the 29th decimal place etc., he punches me and says, "Hey, what's that over there?" He's 11 years my junior.
Question #1. What is it?

Question #2. What is the model year?
Question #3. What would be a modern-day equivalent that you've seen on the streets. I have a specific vehicle in mind.

+1 - Crosley. My buddy owned one in high school - about 1955. We got 4 or more of us in it (not the pickup, however).

Family across the street had one when I was a kid. My father-in-law had one long before I knew him or his lovely daughter.

OK. You guys are pretty quick. Hard to get anything by this group!
It is a Crosley. No one has hit the model year yet, and no one has gotten what I would consider to be a modern-day equivalent.
The owner drives it once per week. The engine is a 4-cylinder. It is nice and simple. I believe one could work on that engine in his/her Sunday-go-to-meetin' duds and not get dirty or wrinkled. He said it will do about 55 mph.

You do realise it costs more in gas to get that Escalade started and warmed up, then the Crosley cost to buy, back in it's day....... What I find interesting, is if you go out to buy a 5,000lb commercial truck, it comes standard with a diesel engine, but the Escalade doesn't....
