Movember, anyone?

I'm afraid this thread is likely to be gender-specific...

As many gentlemen here will know, there's a growing charity fundraising lighthearted event - grow a moustache in November. A short google will inform.

I think the rule is, start clean-shaven on Nov 1. Just hacking back the existing fronds apart from the upper lip doesn't qualify. Then the bushy and sculpted growth is viewed for judgement at the end of the month.

Any past participants care to comment? Any new participants care to commit?

I'm in the land of proud upper lip stuff at the moment, so I might!

Don't know why this is gender-specific. I know many women that can grow a mustache...

Oh, I say. I set 'em up, you kick 'em into goal, and in a matter of minutes. Jolly well played, I think

I had one from age 18 through to 47. I shaved it off having lost a wager with my daughter and felt absolutely liberated. Never again! I will donate money instead.

Rangers pitcher Derek Holland is requesting he get a head start. He's been working on his since July I think; this is as far as he's gotten.

I usually let mine grow from November to April. By them I'm ready to have it gone. Don't do it for charity, just warmth. It's noticable when I ride or ski.

I just need to look at one of our wedding pictures to realize how "uncool" that is.

I have had a full beard since 1968 but for a charity event at work I shaved it off in 1887. Never again. The soreness of having all that skin exposed stung like crazy and no amount of After shave- Baby oil or moisturiding cream helped.

I am not going through that pain again.

In my 30s I had a full beard. As the grey hair came, the beard slowly got smaller and smaller until it is now just a mustache and even that is threatened.

Ladies do not grow mustaches, they grow misstaches. I won't be participating in Mouvember as I have had a mustache since I left home. Right now I'm busy growing my winter muttonchops.
