Benefits Of Chocolate Milk

I just came across this and decided to post here for us 50+ folks. Younger people tend to already know everything already, and so it's up to us more mature guys and gals to learn...

-------
Benefits of Chocolate Milk After Your Workout

To get the best results from your training, ensure that your post-workout drink or meal is up to par. After your workout, your body is most receptive to using amino acids to repair muscle tissue, while using carbohydrates to restore muscle glycogen.

Shoot, that's not news. Been doing that all my life after weight training or just being lazy.

I really miss the old fashioned stuff when there was no such thing as 2%, 1/2%....just whole milk and thick chocolate flavoring.

Too bad I can't drink cow squeezings. Tends to make breathing rather difficult.

I buy a pint of chocolate milk each morning after my commute. Goes well with my half sandwich for breakfast. And I keep 90% cocoa bars or the Hershey Extra Dark in my gear bag when transporting.

When I coached high school boys soccer, our postgame ritual was chocolate milk and a snickers bar. Didn't help coach's waistline, but the kids benefited from the refueling that they wouldn't otherwise get in that crucial time right after a match. That trick came from the local university, which used a more expensive chocolate milk (Boost), but this fit the budget. And the kids loved it - I'm happy to say it is a tradition that has lasted long past my days of coaching. And I love it too, after a ride (almost as much as a good IPA...).

In the five days I just spent in the hospital after my fall down the stairs after a 26 mile bike ride they served me chocolate milk with a few of my meals and I must say it hit the spot. Also lost 10 pounds in the past two weeks. My BMI is excellent even though I am now a total wreck (almost). Improving every day.

Just read where about 46% of adults are lactose intolerant (or was it the other way around?)

Being diabetic we limit our dairy to morning cereal. We do, however, enjoy a double square of a dark chocolate (highest in chocolate goodness) as a treat after supper each day. That is the limit of our candy each day and it's enough.

For a real kick in the pants try Carnation Instant Breakfast. Or, go Euro with a glass of fruit flavored kefir.

I use the sugar-free Nesquik Chocolate mix along with Original Silk soymilk. Per 8 oz. of drink and mix, provides approximately 22 grams of carbohydrates and 8 grams of protein. Closest I can get cheaply to a 4:1 carborotein ratio. They say that is good mix for endurance type exercises.

Humans were naturally lactose intolerant millennia ago. In fact to this day the only ethnicity you will find that is mostly lactose tolerant are Europeans. Because of the prevalence of cattle in Europe and the benefit of dairy foods, the Europeans gradually developed a strong tolerance for lactose which is rarely seen elsewhere in the world. So for example, only about 5% of Europeans and European-descendants (Australia, United States, Canada, etc) are lactose intolerant, but 90% of Asians are lactose intolerant.

I think I read somewhere that around 75% of the people on the planet are lactose intolerant.

I heard about the chocolate milk thing a few weeks ago. I started buying the cases of single serving milk boxes from Costco. It doesn't require refrigeration, so I just put a few boxes in the fridge at a time. Seems to help.

There was a story about this on the medical segment of our local news a while back. It also stated that plain milk is better as a recovery drink then something like Gatorade or any of those energy drinks. I have been a big milk drinker all my life and after a long, hard ride a very cold glass of milk does it for me.

Saw this in a Bicycle magazine this month. Never quit enjoying chocolate and plain 2% milk.

I think He's just a great practical joker. The same as why He has older men losing hair on top while sprouting it from our ears and noses. Funny, God. Very funny...
