"EYE CANDY" part III...show us your Black Bikes
O.K., we've done Blue and we've done White. Lets try Black bikes this time around!!
I'll start this time.
Here's my Schwinn Traveler with a Bendix 2-spd. 'Kick-Back' coaster brake hub.
Here's my '87-'88 vintage Trek 820 Antelope "The Beast", in service for a 'Beer Run'.
This is my 2000-ish Easy Racers Tour Easy.
And finally a nice little '84 Peugeot PH10LE project bike rescued from the garbage collectors.
I like Black Bikes!!

Black bikes
These are work horse bikes not show ponies. The road style bike reminds me of our Saturn sedan. The mountain style bike is more like our Honda Element.

Hey Mr. Grouch, is that a steel bottom Milk Crate up on the shelf?
I always figured a steel bottomed milk crate would make a good skeleton for a 'Tail Box' with stowage.

The only milk crates I've seen recently have been all plastic. If I had one it would be a "steal" bottom milk crate.

Here is a Trek 830 (a '93 model, IIRC) that I rebuilt for one of my sons to use as a college commuter. It was an Ebay find, and the first year it looked like this.
After sitting outside the dorm for a year, we rebuilt it with mostly spare parts, except for the fork, crank, and brakes. Since it was 1-1/8" threaded, we changed over to a threadless headset, installed a new Tange fork, a Deore trekking crank set, and a set of 7-speed bar end shifters, drop bars and brakes came off my Trek 520 some years back. The cantilever brakes were new. Rear DR was an NOS Shimano STX.

cod, I've only had two black bikes, the first as a kid with a Schwinn American and this Cannondale. The clear coat has a 10% gold tint that changes the bike's appearance depending where the lighting is from:

Finally we get to the black bikes
My Trek 520 touring bike. My favorite for trail rides and some touring (no hateful hills).
Trek Madone 5.0 WSD. I ride this more than any of the bikes. It fits perfectly and it's light. I take this on most club rides and those supported tours with lots of hills.
My Trek 4300 mountain bike. I know it isn't pure black....just a lighter shade of black
I rode this on the C&O Canal and Allegheny Passage a couple years ago. I replaced the knobby tires with ones that roll easier on crushed limestone trails. I also used it to haul the granddaughters in the trailer. The granddaughters are now too big for the trailer.

No pics but I have a Giant TCR-C road bike. It is half white and half black. I didn't post it in the white bike post so it won't get posted in the Black one either.
Not that I am putting multi coloured bikes down but I am ashamed of the white half. I dislike White bikes.--But Boreas-- that is a different matter but it is going to be a long time before that colour comes up. And the only Black bike I have ever owned was my Giant OCR that was sold last year.
