Most of you have never heard of Shane Warne, but he is (or was) a giant star in the world of international cricket. And a bike hater, it seems.....

(For those of you who may have read my post from a few days ago, indeed I'm on a family camping trip and without access to a bicycle. There are plenty of cyclists here on the Great River Road, but alas, I'm not one of them. There are, however, internet cafes.)

Pity - I've always been a Warne fan.

No longer.

But I don't understand why the police aren't doing anything.

You have to ask? I can think of no acceptable reason to run your car over the front wheel of a cyclist. Even if the cyclist did everything Warne said he did. To me that constitutes assault with a deadly weapon.

Devil's Advocate perspective - it's a he said/he said thing from the police perspective so far. There's no current determination of criminal behavior or they'd have acted. Instead, they advised civil action - much lower burden of proof in most court systems. No reports in the news stories linked to mentioned any witness statements or corroboration of either party's story.

To me, this is a non-story that belongs in Advocacy where people stake out can't-move-me-from-here positions and stir sh** up just to stir sh** up. YMMV

+1 - lack of this stuff is one reason I've in the past liked 50+. We got enough of our own in our local paper and the local ped/bike advocacy coalition.
